Jonathon Engelien: Apocalyptic Nostalgia
Apocalyptic Nostalgia includes prints and sculptures that imagine a post-apocalyptic Midwestern landscape. The work depicts a new stone age, where bands of people rediscover artifacts from the digital age. Engelien creates this future landscape to force a reexamination of our contemporary moment in the twenty-first century, which oscillates between uncertainty for the future of the environment and longing for the return of the wild.
