Scott Goss: “It Can Be Lonely in Here”

Goss’ installation require interaction to access hidden, dreamlike videos. Viewers must climb stairs or lie on the ground to view the concealed video in each structure. These videos portray the artist’s inner thoughts, feelings, and memories. In the piece I Hear Static Instead of Silence, which represents the artist’s experience of falling asleep, viewers must lie on their backs to see and hear his dreamlike state, which fades from reality to static. Goss’ work invites viewers to draw back the curtain and step into the artist’s mind.

Scott Goss lives and works in Cleveland, Ohio. Scott received his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2006 and his MFA from Kent State University in 2014. His work has been featured in solo and group shows nationally. Currently, Scott is an Adjunct Professor of Foundations at the Cleveland Institute of Art. His work is supported by grants through the Ohio Arts Council and Harpo Foundation.
