What happens when your visual, spatial and temporal surroundings become socially flat; how can you begin to even gauge your place in the world, let alone the present? For a month, ROY G BIV Gallery's windows will be blocked out with grey paper except for a small rectangle to see into the space. Inside, a series of grey scale structures, projector screens, and yellowed foam objects will sit uninhabited; rather they will be left behind after an hour long performance on September second. On that day, four bodies will move throughout the two rooms watching, resting and getting damp. For the remainder of the month, the screens will keep catching the projections and the structures will retain a trace of what occurred the day of the opening. "On an Island with You" exposes the world of image as present to us, but our lack of presentness to it; a proximal relation which forces us to disappear in order to situate ourselves within its sphere.
