Benjamin Jones

Benjamin Jones exhibits new sculptures that explore the landscape as a vehicle for political discussion. Using a variety of common construction materials, such as wood, metal and plastic, Jones’ sculptures call to mind architectural and engineered structures. His work is driven by the idea that our existence is defined by the structures (both physical and social) we create. Highlighting social, political and financial structures his work explores property rights, political boundaries and the American identity.

Jones is an artist and educator working in sculpture, drawing and installation. He has exhibited his work throughout the U.S., including exhibitions in New York, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Michigan, California and Massachusetts. He earned his MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and his BFA from The Ohio State University. Jones is currently an Assistant Professor of Sculpture at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
